INDUSTRY INTERVIEW: Contract Flooring

How to pick Flooring

Photos by Woodford Sisters

Welcome to our Industry Interview Series!

It's been my goal for some time now to interview our tradespeople who we work closely with to give a more in-depth look at what they do, what homeowners should know before making a big decision, and get to know these talented people a little better.

As Designers, we are required to know so much about so many products, which let's face it, it's impossible to know everything! The people you're going to meet in this interview series are the unsung heroes of our projects. They're the ones who supply us with the knowledge to help us make informed decisions, provide quality products/services/installation and help us problem solve along the way. Because let's be honest and address that there WILL be problems in every project.

I hope you enjoy this series and find it incredibly helpful whether you're working on your own home or love to know more about our industry.

Have something you want to know more about? Drop us a note HERE and let us know how we can help!

Let's DIVE IN!

We carry the leading manufacturers in carpet, wood, vinyl, and LVT, with a heavy emphasis on pattern, color, and performance.

NO.2

What's your most popular product and why do you think that is?

Residential wool broadloom carpet, due to its extensive range of offerings and varying price points.

NO.3

What trends are you seeing in your industry right now?

Wood and LVT collections returning to more natural, neutral color tones and textures.  For carpet, it’s deeper textures and a more saturated depth of color.

NO.4

What trends do you hope to never see again?

Avocado green shag!  No! No! No! Unless you REALLY have to have it…we understand

NO.5

what are the signs of a quality product?

For us, it’s equally important to know that our manufacturing partners have a deep commitment to customer satisfaction in the products we offer, in addition to being well constructed.

NO.6

what should homeowners consider before deciding on a type of flooring for their home?

Above everything, their LIFESTYLE.  Is it an active household? Do they entertain often?  Pets? Children? If so, how old? And the list goes on……

NO.7

Any common misconceptions that homeowners should know about?

laura-engen-interior-design-blog-industry-interivew-contract-flooring-wood-floors

Yes! The importance of padding under your carpet!  You can have the most beautiful, well-constructed carpet, but if you put a budget-priced, inferior pad underneath it, the carpet will not perform over the long term the way it was intended to.

NO.8

Any special tips you want to add for taking care of flooring products?

Every floor is different. Take the time to ask about the maintenance for whatever you choose; be it carpet, wood or vinyl.  Each product has specific maintenance needs!

NO.9

What's next for Contact Flooring?

Our focus has always been and will continue to be, partnering with the Interior Design and Design-Build trades. We are quite adept at taking their visions and turning them into reality.  This focus has served us and our clients well and we take pride in those trusted partnerships!!!
