Friday Five // The Rise of the "Faces" Trend

DAY 24 OF THE 30-DAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE

FRIDAY FIVE

Lately, faces seem to be cropping up everywhere in decor. From artwork to furniture, they're making their debut in every shape, color, and size you can imagine (and I'm loving it). It's such a fresh way to infuse a pop of personality into your space, and while you don't want to go overboard with faces on every surface, a piece mixed in with your current collection can be so fun.

NO. 1 PAINTED FACES ON VASES

If you're drawn to the face trend, but aren't quite ready to commit to a 3D sculpture, go for a vase with a painted face. It's subtle, but still whimsical, and it's a great way to add interest to a room. Plus, if you ever tire of the design, you can always turn it around, and voila! It's a chic white vase. I call that a perfect situation.

NO. 2 FACES STOOL

How funky is this stool? This piece is definitely for you if you're ready to go all out with this trend and aren't afraid of making a bold statement. But even with its stand-out look, because it's in a neutral cream color, it still feels understated and will seamlessly work with whatever palette you already have in play. That's my kind of furniture.

NO. 3 SCULPTURAL ART

A black and white sculpture like this one is perfect just about anywhere. Use it as a single bookend to dress up your bookcase, or set it on a side table to add a bit of height. You can even prop this on your entryway table or dresser to complete a styled vignette. There's truly no limit, and its versatility is why I'm totally head over heels.

NO. 4 WALL ART

This gorgeous artwork by Minnesota's very own Kate Arends of Wit & Delight (for West Elm) is a total fave of mine. The abstract face feels unexpected, but the simple neutral color combo means it'll mix in like a charm with any other artwork you have on your walls. Keep it as a standalone print or slide it into a gallery wall - either way, you've got art that will wow, no doubt.

NO. 5 3D FACES ON VASES

In case you didn't know, I loooooove vases, so of course I had to include two in today's roundup! I can't get enough of 3D faces on vases right now, and it's no wonder why. It feels so classic and timeless - like a piece you'd find in a world-renowned art museum - and yet, it's got a modern vibe that I'm digging. Whether you use it as a sculpture or add a plant to it, it's sure to elevate your space big time.

So, go ahead, give it a try. You just may come "face to face" with a piece you absolutely adore. And as always, I'd love to see your styled spaces, so be sure to drop a comment below with a photo!
