Friday Five // Styling Props for a Steal

DAY 17 OF THE 30-DAY BLOGGING CHALLENGE

FRIDAY FIVE

When it comes to styling out a room for a photoshoot, props are a must have to make the space feel stylish, curated, and ultimately lived in. Though we don't all necessarily have a bowl full of lemons on our countertops or a fresh bouquet of flowers in our living room at all times, it definitely helps to set the tone of the room as a whole. Looking to add some magazine-worthy style to your own space, but not ready to drop a lot of cash to do it? Read on - I've put together a list of my favorite ways to spruce up a room that cost almost nothing. You don't want to miss it. Happy styling!

NO.1 Wooden Spoons

Wooden spoons are amazing props, let me tell you! If you don't have a gourmet collection on hand, though, fear not - the best part about wooden spoons is that the more eclectic and mismatched they are, the more interesting the overall look is. Head to a few thrift shops or Target to see what's on sale - you never know what you'll find.

NO.2 Flowers from your Yard

Sometimes, when we're looking to add a quick refresh to our spaces, we can easily forget about the beautiful blooms in our own yards. Why buy a bouquet from the store when you can have instant style with a few full flowers you've picked yourself? Whether you choose all one flower or go for a wildflower look, it's a winner every time.

NO.3 Bottled Oils

I love a countertop tray that is bursting with bottled oils. Layer together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and everything in between in a variety of bottle shapes and heights and it'll give your kitchen a curated and classic aesthetic. Plus, the more of those flavors you have on display, the more it'll feel like it's a kitchen that's actually used, ya know?

NO.4 Cutting Boards

Cutting boards take the cake when it comes to simplicity and timeless style, and propping a few of them against your backsplash is a surefire way to make your kitchen feel both functional and chic. Just be sure to go for boards in the wood variety versus the bright colored or plastic ones. While they're great to have in your cooking arsenal, they tend to feel out of place on display.

NO.5 Fruit

Pears, apples, oranges, lemons...the list goes on and on, and there's really no limit to the fruit you can display. All you need is a sleek tray or bowl and a hearty amount of fruit, and voila! You've got a kitchen that's photoshoot-ready. Quick tip, though - opt for all one kind of fruit (like all lemons or all green apples) - the simplicity of the color palette will help it pop against the room's backdrop.

Having a few go-to styling props to refresh your everyday life can make all the difference in how you feel living in your space. Drop a comment below if you've used these before or have any other must-have props. If there's one you swear by, let me know - I'd love to incorporate it on my next shoot!
