Friday Five // Exterior Color Trends

Anyone else getting an itch to upgrade your home’s curb appeal (especially with more time than ever spent at home)? While patio season is in full swing, I’ve started looking at the front of our house and can’t help but daydream about all the potential. The best part? A quick paint upgrade is incredibly affordable - all you need are the essential tools, a bit of time and sweat equity, and of course, the color of your dreams. So this week, I’m talking all about exterior color trends that are hot right now - I’ve got a feeling you’ll be whipping out that paint smock before you even make it to the hardware store.

NO. 1 BLACK & WHITE

Does it get more classic than a black & white combo? I'm loving that this trend is popping up everywhere for exteriors. The contrast between the two feels equally fresh and timeless, and it instantly adds a dash of modern farmhouse that I love. Add a few colorful potted flowers on either side and you've got one pretty picture!

NO. 2 BRICK WITH ACCENT TRIM

I adore brick, but lately I've been seeing a total update from the typical look with colorful accent trim and I'm all about it. In this case, a muted blue frames the windows, doors, and eaves, and the result is totally charming. Nothing beats the majestic vibes of a brick home, and when you can add a dose of personality, it's even better.

NO. 3 ALL WHITE

Love an all-out fresh and crisp aesthetic? Go for an all-white exterior. Of course, all-white palettes have been popular for a while in design, but more than ever I've noticed them cropping up left & right for exteriors. Paired with a chic matte black light fixture and simple, but stunning, landscaping, it's a match made in heaven.

NO. 4 GREY WITH COLOR POP

Ok, I'm obsessed with this combo and it takes "color pop" to a whole new level. With a grey base and a subtle, yet saturated, color for the front door, it gives off a sophisticated and structured vibe that still feels fun and low key - perfect for families! Plus, neither of these shades feel too stuck in one season, so they're perfect for year-round gorgeousness!

NO. 5 DARK EXTERIORS

Hello, dream home! I can't get enough of dark exteriors right now. They've got trendsetter written all over them, and with a few strategically-placed elements to give it an infusion of warmth (think wood, plants, and warm outdoor lighting), it's a mix you simply can't go wrong with. Whether you opt for a dark black or more of a slate, a dark exterior is always a good idea.

What’s first on your curb appeal to-do list? Still getting in a few last minute landscaping additions? Doing a bit of window washing? Upgrading a light fixture? Or going the paint route? Whatever your DIY flavor, I’d love to see the finished results - pop those before and afters below in the comments!
