Friday Five // Transitional Fall Decor

Well, we’ve hit that transitional holiday season, friends. You know - those four weeks or so when we’re all totally over pumpkins and leaves, but not quiiiiiiiite ready to bust out the stockings and lights? Yep, that’s the one. It can be a tricky time as far as decor goes, no doubt. Do you grudgingly hold onto all those yellow and orange hues? Put it all away and simply wait in the everyday decor in-between? Or sneak in a few Christmas favorites just to get a head start on your decorations? The good news is there is a solution! Read on for this week’s roundup of my favorite transitional fall decor pieces. I guarantee that with a few key items, you’ll strike the perfect balance between jack-o-lantern city and the Polar Express.

NO. 1 WHITE BERRIES

When it comes to filling this time gap between carved pumpkins and Christmas carols, white berries are much more my style than traditional red berry bunches. They somehow manage to feel festive and wintry without quite going into red/green holiday territory. Plus, they'll work great through January and beyond! Hello, versatility!

NO. 2 WREATH

Sure, you can hang a "thankful" door sign or put together a cornucopia wreath for your front door to really dig into Thanksgiving themes, but why not go a little more natural? I love doing a simple greenery wreath with some textured pops thrown in (like pinecones). Plus, you can instantly Christmas it up after turkey day with a classic red bow.

NO. 3 BELLS

Who says bells are only for Santa? Their timeless look makes them perfect for a little decor sprinkling here or there (think tablescapes or mantel decor). Of course, they're not just pretty - they're fun for the kids, too. Give them a little jingle and their tinkling sounds will give the fam just the right amount of excitement for all those sleigh rides and Christmas cookies around the corner.

NO. 4 CANDLES

Candles are always a good idea in my book. They create instant mood lighting and give off a little magic that's unbeatable. Plus, not only can you get totally creative with an array of various votives and candle holders, but by keeping your palette simple and stylish, it's also guaranteed to take you seamlessly from one holiday to the next.

NO. 5 TREES

Simple unlit evergreen trees are amazing decor additions this time of year. Their texture is dreamy and winter wonderland-inspired, yet they definitely feel more "winter" than "Christmas." Save the twinkle lights and ornaments for next month and instead bask in just a touch of seasonal charm - it's sure to add a much-needed dash of cheer all throughout your home.

What’s your idea of the perfect balance between holidays? Are you team “keep it fall, y’all,” or do you swing to “deck the halls” as soon as the pumpkins are put away? However you decorate, I always say that as long as you keep it classy and stylish, it’s sure to be a hit. Happy in-between season!
