Friday Five // Keeping Things Organized
If there’s one thing that weeks on end inside the house has taught me, it’s that keeping things in their proper places is a pipe dream. Ha. All jokes aside, it can be really frustrating to suddenly face a messy house day in and day out like never before, and I’m always on the hunt for quick organization solutions to keep things at least a little bit clean (even if they aren’t likely to stay that way for long). So, this week, I’m giving you a rundown of some of my favorite quick fix organization hacks that make a TON of difference in how your home looks and feels. Sometimes, it’s the simple things that make the most dramatic changes.
NO. 1 PEG BOARDS
Peg boards are one of the most versatile ways to get a TON of organization out of a space, no matter how small. Not only can you literally use the entire wall for storage, but they also allow for constant flexibility. Plus, they work everywhere - the garden shed, the garage, an office, the laundry room - the list goes on and on!
NO. 2 CUPS & MUGS
I don't know about you, but with my new homeschooling duties, my house seems like it's in constant disarray. Trying to wrangle all of my kiddos' art supplies and toys is like playing whack-a-mole. Want to know a quick solution? Organize "things" by category, then just pop them in a few matching glasses - instant cleaning success!
NO. 3 STREAMLINED CANISTERS
You know I love a good label - especially when it comes to making those day-to-day kitchen supplies look a little more stylish. But, what really brings those pretty labels to life is a set of matching canisters. From spices to dry goods and more, if you have a group of identical containers, it offers a totally streamlined look that's a storage game changer.
NO. 4 DRAWER DIVIDERS
If you're like me, you always have that one drawer in the kitchen with cooking tools haphazardly shoved inside together. It's all fine and dandy until you actually need something or a measuring cup gets lodged in the back of the cabinet. With drawer dividers, though, everything always has a home and it's a breeze to keep it tidy. If you don't have these, they're a must to stay organized!
NO. 5 LAUNDRY ESSENTIALS
Let's be honest, the laundry room can turn into chaos on a constant basis. But rather than piling together all of your detergents, dryer sheets, and clean/dirty laundry either on the washer/dryer or on the floor, make use of wall space instead and install a little rack number like this one from Pottery Barn. It's got function and style written all over it.
Will these organization tips solve all of those messy woes? Probably not. But I guarantee that having things put away and cleared of clutter will make things feel a million times better. So, cheers to simple organization solutions and may your to-do list be shorter and shorter every day!
