Friday Five // Repurpose Your Decor

When you spend hours and hours in the same rooms, you tend to notice all the things you’d like to change. That framed photo you never used to pay attention to is suddenly screaming for a gallery wall. Or, your living room furniture suddenly has to move or you’ll never be able to enjoy the room again. I’m being a bit dramatic, of course, but if you’re like me, you’re so beyond ready to give your home a refresh that you’re toying with the idea of a floor-to-ceiling repaint. The good news, though, is that you don’t have to go quite that far. There are a million ways to repurpose your already-existing decor to help your home feel brand spankin’ new. So, before you buy ten gallons of paint and pull everything away from the walls, take a look below - you just might find that with a few strategic tweaks, your home will feel just right once again.

  1. Artwork 2. Backyard Bouquet 3. Trays 4. Blanket Display 5. Books as Decor

NO. 1 ARTWORK

Tired of staring at the same wall art day in and day out? Spice it up by thinking outside the box. I love layering together different framed prints and just leaning them against the wall instead of hanging them up. It gives off an eclectic and curated look, and you can change things up everyday if you want - no need to bother with nail holes!

NO. 2 BACKYARD BOUQUET

Ok, I know we've had a patch of cold weather for the last week, but spring IS here and things are slowly starting to bloom again! As those lilacs and peonies start to pop over the next few months, don't forget to snag a few from your yard for a quick pick-me-up bouquet. It's so fun to arrange your own vase and the color infusion is always top notch.

NO. 3 TRAYS

Trays are THE perfect way to spruce up those areas that don't usually get a ton of love (think the bathroom counter where we all tend to stockpile our daily toiletries). It's an instant visual upgrade! And you can make just about anything into a tray - from a basket to bowl, you can 100% reuse any container you like for a quick decor pop.

NO. 4 BLANKET DISPLAY

Need a quick style shift, but not ready to totally rearrange things or invest in more decor? No problem! One of my favorite ways to revamp a little corner or hallway is to fold up a few stylish blankets and pop them in a pile on top of a side chair. It adds such simple and beautiful texture, and it literally takes a few minutes to complete. My kind of DIY!

NO. 5 BOOKS AS DECOR

Books are literally bottomless as decor hacks. There are so many ways to arrange and rearrange them that as long as you have a collection on hand, you can always refresh your space. Try adding a few to a side table or dresser. Or, go big and totally rearrange your shelves by book color. Whatever you're drawn to, books are guaranteed to make your space come alive in the best way possible.

So, which decor pieces are you planning to repurpose? Are you all about creating a “blanket chair,” or is artwork more your style? If you have other ideas for decor hacks, I’d love to hear them (and to see your before & after shots of your updates, too)!
