Friday Five // Spring Spruce Up

It’s been a strange time lately with the uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus spread. But, I’m a big believer in turning to things that make us happy not only every day, but also especially during times of stress and worry. I’m personally always cheered up when I look to the future and dream up all the ways I can change up my home to make it feel just a bit more fresh and relaxing. So, if you’ve been feeling down lately, read on - I’m giving you my five favorite ways to spruce up your front door for spring. Because though we’re all social distancing, a friendly welcome - even from afar - can put us all in a good mood.

  1. Fresh Paint 2. Welcome Mat 3. Wreath 4. Planters 5. Door Knocker

NO. 1 FRESH PAINT

You know how much I love a soft blue, but it feels even more cheery this time of year - especially after months on end of all white and grey. And while you can go any color route - pink, yellow, green, etc.- for me, this blue strikes the perfect balance between bold and understated. It's a guaranteed mood booster every time you come home!

NO. 2 WELCOME MAT

I always love swapping out my welcome mat each season since the daily wear and tear makes it look a little, well, sad after awhile. Plus, there are so many adorable options out there - from Easter-themed designs to fun and friendly welcome messages, with a brand new mat in place, your home will get a happiness boost instantly.

NO. 3 WREATH

You can go for a classic floral wreath, but why not go outside the box for your decor? I love this lamb's ear wreath because it feels seasonal without relying on a bunny/egg/tulip theme. I just can't get enough of the softness of the greenery paired with the tufts of cotton - I swear it's the perfect neutral beauty for your front door!

NO. 4 PLANTERS

While the idea of spring is refreshing and oh-so-nice after a long winter, Minnesota planting season isn't for awhile yet. So, the best way to achieve a burst of greenery and color right now is to bust out those planters. Try layering multiple types of plants - a hanging vine, some ferns/grasses, and a tall tree - the height differences add such a gorgeous bit of fullness and life to your front porch.

NO. 5 DOOR KNOCKER

Most of us have doorbells, but there's something so timeless and chic about a good old fashioned door knocker. But who says you have to stick with the same one year round? Try switching yours out for a whimsical spring one this year - like this bumble bee - and your front door will feel totally revamped and ready for those warmer temps.

Spring is the perfect time to hit the restart button. And whether you’re knee-deep in literal spring cleaning, slowly opening the windows to let in that fresh air, or just want a decor update to make things feel a bit more cheerful, I hope you enjoy this time. We’ll take each day together, and with a little infusion of energy and color, we can most certainly come out stronger on the other end.
