Friday Five // Classic Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner, and even though most of us are probably staying away from the usual large parties and boisterous family affairs, there’s no reason you can’t still celebrate this Hallow’s Eve in style! Lean into all that spooky chic goodness and go all out at home. From simple black bats to cocktails and candles, I’ve rounded up five easy ways to keep things classic and still super entertaining for the kiddos. Let the fun begin!

  1. Spooky Decor 2. Cocktails & Mocktails 3. Nostalgic Treats 4. Candlelight 5. Painted Pumpkins

NO. 1 SPOOKY DECOR

Think you have to skip all the spooky decor in order to keep it classy? Think again! You can totally give your home a touch of scary style - you just need to stick to a simple neutral color palette and add in more timeless decor pieces (like these gold cloches filled with bats). It's guaranteed to be glamorous and haunted house-chic!

NO. 2 COCKTAILS & MOCKTAILS

Halloween is always better with a perfectly photo-ready cocktail in hand. And if you can make a non-alcoholic mocktail for the kids to enjoy, too, what could be more fun?! Berry-based recipes will give your drink instant witchy vibes, and topped with a vibrant and delicious garnish, you'll be ready to celebrate in style!

NO. 3 NOSTALGIC TREATS

Let's be honest, the kids will all get plenty of candy to go around after trick-or-treating (and us adults will likely be sneaking half of it after bedtime). So, when you're laying out snacks for your crew at home, stick to recipes that layer on the nostalgia. Salted caramel apples and caramel corn balance the salt and sweet like nothing else!

NO. 4 CANDLELIGHT

Want to create an instant Halloween atmosphere? Turn off all the lights and fill the house with candles instead! Tapers in brass candlesticks are always timeless and will blend in perfectly with your existing decor, but they'll still feel spooky and exciting in the darkness. Perfect way to please both the kids and your style-longing inner designer!

NO. 5 PAINTED PUMPKINS

While I do love a good collection of Jack-O-Lanterns on our front steps, when it comes to inside decor, sometimes thinking outside the box makes those pumpkins feel more, well, fashion forward. I love the idea of painting pumpkins with patterns, metallics, or muted fall colors - it gives your space a fun infusion of Halloween, but still feels like it can have longevity through to Thanksgiving. Always a bonus!

How are you celebrating Halloween this year? Going all out with spooky decor? Keeping it pared down and more “fall” overall? Or kid-friendly through and through with costumes and candy galore? Whatever your plans, I hope you have a blast - it’s been a strange year, but we can definitely all let loose and have a little fun - even if just for one night. Happy haunting!
